Secret Passageways

Most people will tell you that Dominica is boring… I hear this all the time from the youth I work with. But for those who know how to appreciate the small beauties in life it’s an unmissable place. What it lacks in nightlife and ‘bling’ it makes up for in surprises. It teaches you to rediscover and appreciate everyday things.

Instead of just zooming from tourist attraction to tourist attraction, take the time to stop and really look around. Pause in the villages and wander around. I know that being a foreigner attracts attention… being a “pretty white lady” with a camera I know all about that. But people here don’t bite and in fact they are tremendously welcoming and curious.

If you do you will see the things I’ve pictured in this blog and you will really experience Dominica for yourself.

This picture was taken in Paix Bouche during an afternoon walk. The covered passage with the partially hidden wooden shack at the end gives an air of mystery to the place, even when it’s on a well-traveled road.
