Saturday morning market in Portsmouth is always a treat, especially now that I know quite a few of the vendors. It usually doesn’t take me long, shopping for one never does, but I like to wander around and have a look at everything.
To get the best produce you have to be there early, between 5.30 and 6 am so I don’t go as often as I’d like to. Buses from the whole district bring people down for the market to do their weekly food shopping and some vendors spend all night in the market to get the best spots and be ready early.
This picture was taken during market day with a difference and while some vendors were not particularly happy to pose for pictures some accepted quite graciously. Be sure to ask before you take your pictures.
Here you can see a big pumpkin surrounded by cinnamon bark (in the plastic bags), spring onion, parsley, onion, coconuts, mangoes, rosemary and fresh cut flowers.
