Cabrits National Park is located in the Northern part of the island, a mountainous outcrop jutting into the sea just outside Portsmouth. The fort, Fort Shirley, is being reconstructed and there is a museum explaining the history of the area. But the best thing to do is to get lost along the shady overhanging tree-covered trails. Carpets of flowers materialize, glimpses of the coast, the odd ruin and the feeling of being on an adventure make it a great place to wander.
